Night Stalkers Music & Lyric by Dennis Genovese & Karen Mantero © 1995 American Trucker Publishing When the sun sleeps, the vampire is awakened. And the coffins of the living dead are shaking. Light fades, melting mortal sadness, Out of nowhere they appear amidst the madness. (Chorus 1) Beware the cold and deadly bite; the living dead come out tonight It’s all right now, everything is quiet; they are patient, No one breaks the silence. In the darkness, there can be no sorrow, Till the light of day must break the spell tomorrow (Chorus 2) Beneath the scarlet midnight moon They hunt the swamps for red pocoon (Bridge) Searching for blood in the mire Far away from the sun & the light Living in morbid desire; standing watch the guardians of night. When the dawn breaks, mortals are awakened, When the sun shines, darkness is forsaken. But the shadows, that the sun is making; aren’t dark enough to hide a soul that’s aching. So they hide themselves in a world that’s free of sunlight. In the dark, deserted swamps they prowl at midnight. (Repeat bridge & Fade) Beware the cold & deadly bite, the living dead come out tonight Beware the dark be on your guard; the night belongs to ALUCARD

Ballad for a Fisherman Music and Lyric by Dennis Genovese and Karen Mantero © ASCAP American Trucker Publishing. 1973 (Verse 1) Fisherman, wait for me, take me sailing on the restless sea. Jig the tuna, fight the blues, I will always tip my hat to you Take me now, the seagulls cry, for the morning sun is breaking in the sky. (Verse2) Earn your living friend; sell the fish you've caught, Get your price for every shark you've caught. My respect you've earned, while the sea's earned yours, In the dark of night off an ancient shore, waiting, quietly, while the howling wind is tearing up the sea. (Verse 3) Spread your lures beneath, a December sky Soon the codfish will begin to die. There are few who toil in the way you do, Even hungry gulls who follow you, hang glide in the sky, watching from the corner of their eyes. (Verse 4) When your skin is burned, by the summer sun, You'll be netting weakfish one by one. And your reels will fly, and your rods will bend, Fisherman, wave hello to a friend; Yes, Fisherman, I want to be a fisherman like you. Hey fisherman, there not left many fishermen like you don’t leave me standing on the dry land.

(Verse 1) I'm following my heart wherever it may lead. It's sure been broken up so many times I've watched it bleed. I don't believe that love can make a guarantee. I'm going to take a chance and hope you give your heart to me. (Chorus1) Times get rough and life gets tough, But I won’t ever let you down and leave you broken up. (Verse 2) There's nothing left to do again I'm trucking down that street Oh I could surely use a friend to get me on my feet. The North wind helps the leaves determine when they will fall down But I'm forever letting old man time blow me around. (Chorus 2) Little love left anywhere, so darling keep me by your side, Don't leave me anywhere. (Verse 3) I won’t compete with people who've got heads made out of stone. You know that I'm the different type; So don't leave me alone (Verse 4) I'm following my heart, wherever it may lead. It's sure been broken up so many times I've watched it bleed. I don't believe that love, can make a guarantee. I'm going to take a chance and hope you give your heart to me. Little love left anywhere, so darling keep me by your side, Don't leave me anywhere.

Brownie 03:19
Brownie” Narrative Music & Lyric by Dennis Genovese © ASCAP American Trucker Publishing 1998 I saw him every morning. He was not a pretty sight. Lying there exhausted, from one of his nighttime fights. His howling filled the air; you could hear it everywhere. Brownie was a rough looking mutt with a face full of scars. But he was a mascot to the drivers who worked around that Brooklyn truck yard. Tough as he was, he protected his buddies. Somehow, I don’t know why, Brownie was connected to me I found him in a truck yard. He was lying on his side. That dog could see right through me when he looked me in the eye. I knew there was a reason, but I’ve always wondered why When I went back to look for him, many years later, I was told he had his throat cut by a couple of gang boys, Who somehow gained his trust. Brownie didn’t get close to no one that easily. I kind of wish he would have died fighting like the street mutt that he was. Twenty-five years and I can’t forget him, as I tell his story one more time. That stray dog we called Brownie, he was a good friend of mine.

“Tin Man’s Blues” Music by Dennis Genovese Lyric by Paul Anderson © American Trucker Publishing Jan 2000 (Verse 1) This song's just a blues song, but it's something special to me. Just my own brand of frustration, keeps going on endlessly. It begins every morning at what some people call a career. Part time after school that turned into twenty-something years, It's the tin mans blues, stuck behind the wheel again, Blacktop and the clear sky’s, are my only friends. (Verse 2) Way back when I got started, this job had style and class. Dispatchers seemed caring, mechanics would bust their ass. To keep your truck rolling darling, the money was reasonably fair. But lately all you hear about is heartache and despair. You’ve got some pencil pushing would-be, telling you how to drive, When ten minutes in a bad one would put the teardrops In that big mouths puny eyes. (Verse 3) Johnny came in from the North side, Pedro came in from the South. Let's hear it for free trade, it's taking the food from my kid's mouth. But hey, this is America, you got to love her good and bad. As for trucking darling, the situation is just plain sad. Dave Dudley was my hero with ten days on the road Red Solvine had his teddy bear beside him in giddy yap go Once a respected profession, that carried my family name, Now the way the public's been treating me, makes my children hide in shame. (Bridge) Everything you eat, you wear, and you drive, or smoke Don't you know it came to you darling on my big old heavy truck. Eighty thousand pounds of metal, and twenty years of skill and luck. Shortstop, Triplex and Tazmo, they're all still in the game. But no, no, no, no, not the tin man, I'm getting out of the hammer lane. Good-bye American trucking, trying to keep your pride alive. In a livelihood that’s going down, it's going down, ain't going to survive. Every car going down the road, seen a trucker with a heavy load, Used to be a time when you could bet your life on his courtesy. A trucker was a special breed, protecting you defensively. I got the Tin Mans Blue's, and Shortstop, Triplex, and Tazmo, They’ve got them too

(Bridge Tag) The U.S.A. it moves by truck but damn the pays nowhere enough For raising a family, So Cathy let it be.

The Changing Winds (free) 04:33
Verse 1 The autumn winds of change are blowing free They’re whispering to both you and me. Tomorrow’s just a memory past Forever doesn’t really last Bridge The love we shared may well be lost and never to be felt again. But this little piece of time forever will remain. Embedded in this soul so deep A part of you is mine for keeps Tag And I could never loose, this part of me that's you. Because it has replaced, the part of me I gave The changing winds must blow, but I don’t want to know I don’t want to go

Soft Spoken Man Music & Lyric: Al Canecchia © Al Canecchia Verse: He was a soft spoken man, He took me by the hand He tried to make my whole life better He sailed my ship through stormy weather He was a soul searching man, He made me understand Just what my life could be, when I choose my destiny Bridge: Then one day I came to see what he had done for me Taught me right from wrong gave me strength to sing my song Verse: He was a God fearing man, He made me take a stand Against the tide that pulls you down and spins your head round and round Bridge: Then one day I came to know how the winds of change can blow Always there at my side His love became my guide Repeat Verses & Fade

You Broke My Heart Music & Lyric: Bobby Andriani & Doc Pomus © Hill & Range Publishing You promised me that you’d always be true But I found out you promised others too. You broke my heart more than once before But it ain’t gonna happen to me no more You always hurt the one you love the best You act real nice and sweet to all the rest You broke my heart more than once before But it ain’t gonna happen to me no more Bridge: You heard the expression once a fool Always a fool But I’m gonna be the exception to the rule And then you’ll see that two can play the game And what I’ll do to your heart will be a shame You broke my heart more than once before But it ain’t gonna happen to me no more

“Done It Again” Music & Lyric by Karen Mantero & Dennis Genovese © 1976 American Trucker Publishing (Verse ) You’ll never know what I go through, After all that I’ve done to you Love should mean something more, Something more than it did before You must know how I feel for you After all that we’ve been through Life should mean something more, Something more than it did before (Chorus) There I go I’ve done it again I’ve walked out on my best friend There I go I’ve done it again I’ve closed the door on my only friend I look at him, smiling at me, I can’t help but cry Cause I know that he’s really hurting inside (Verse 3) You’ll never know what I go through After all that I’ve done to you I love you more than anything With all the hurt that I must bring There I go I’ve done it again I’ve walked out on my best friend There I go I’ve done it again I’ve closed the door on my only friend There I go I’ve done it again!

(Verse 1) Fisherman, wait for me, take me sailing on the restless sea. (Verse3) Spread your lures beneath, a December sky Soon the codfish will begin to die. Produced & Arranged by Dennis Genovese

[Chorus] An ambulance rolled up, a state-trooper close behind Tweeter took his gun away and messed up his mind The undercover cop was left tied up to a tree Near the souvenir stand, by the old abandoned factory Next day the undercover cop was hot in pursuit He was taking the whole thing personal; he didn't care about the loot Jan had told him many times, "It was you to me who taught In Jersey anything's legal as long as you don't get caught." [Chorus] Some place by Rahwey Prison they ran out of gas The undercover cop had cornered them, said "Boy, you didn't think this could last?" Jan jumped out of bed, said, "There's someplace I gotta go." She took the gun out of the drawer, said, "It's best that you don't know." The undercover cop was found face down in a field The Monkey Man was on the river bridge, using Tweeter as a shield Jan said to the Monkey Man, "I'm not fooled by Tweeter's curl I knew him long before he became a Jersey Girl." [Chorus] Now the town of Jersey City is quieting down again I'm sitting in a gambling club called the Lion's Den The TV set was blown up; every bit of it is gone Ever since the nightly news showed that the Monkey Man was on I guess I'll go to Florida and get myself some sun There ain't no more opportunity here; everything's been done Sometimes I think of Tweeter, sometimes I think of Jan Sometimes I don't think about nothing but the Monkey Man

My Tough Kid Brother (free) 06:56
Susan was my sister, but not for very long. She never got to know me, She died when she was three. Still I often wonder, just how she lived at all, for she could not hear, She could not see, she couldn’t even crawl. To watch a baby suffering, is not an easy task So beautiful, so innocent, you knew she couldn’t last Yes my little baby sister, she got lost behind the doors In a hospital called Willow Brook, where no one cared at all. Bobby took his life last night; a week ago he said good-bye Now I'm left with all the memories, of my tough kid Brother and I Bobby never had a single chance, only two when he lost his Daddy's love Susan died when she was only three; forever changed my Father’s stance And it broke my Mama's heart, to put that little girl away She watched my Daddy fall apart, I still hear my Mother say! You should have seen the child cling to him, You should have seen the child cling to him, He’s never been the same, since that day. He said he’d cut off his right arm (on the way) said he’d cut off his right arm Rather than put that little girl away. After Susan died little Andrew was born, Dad’s intentions were good. He named him after himself, did the best that he could. Bobby grew up quite confused; his heart of gold had been so abused With the courage of a Lion in a cage Bobby had no fear, Bobby filled with rage You were lucky to be Bobby’s friend, You never ever saw him backing down The time I missed the beating of my life, Two of them and one of me, in the middle of the night But the beating changed direction cause my brother was around. Where oh where oh where are you now? Got to find a way, I've got to get to talk to you somehow I need you here why did you have to leave, I know you're somewhere looking out for me Susan little sister, he went and took his life We watched our Fathers heart torn out, We watched him fall apart, Please forgive me now, I forgave him now, twenty years we’d been apart. The circle has come round now and I’ve got my own little girl, And if I ever lost her, I'd destroy my whole damned world. So Daddy though you hurt us, we know it wasn't from your heart, not in the start I’m glad we both forgave each other, before you passed apart. For Danny

about

FULL RESOLUTION Review by Bruce Mooney, Entertainment Critic, The Courier Times, Roxboro, NC
FULL RESOLUTION is the fantastic 62(!) song catalog of singer/songwriters Dennis Genovese and Karen Mantero. Both great and interesting vocalists, their poetic and musical brilliance shines through on songs of love, love lost, loneliness, camaraderie, the human predicament, the trucking life, animal rights and the apocalypse. Inspired by the many genre's of classic rock, this is music for the coming resurgence of seriously meaningful rock and roll.
The vocals on FULL RESOLUTION are rich. Karen's voice is mellow and dramatic, making the listener feel the depths of the melody and the lyrics. There is a timbre to her voice that is simply beautiful. Her phrasing is most effective, adding to the silken quality of each song she sings. Karen's sounds like she could only be a young girl grown up on the mean streets of NYC in the 60's or 70's, raised on the NY girl groups of doo wop and akin to punk, Patty Smith, the Shangri-Las, with hints of swing era chanteuses.
Dennis' lush tenor voice enriches each of his vocals, endearing the listener to the song and the singer. His sincerity registers strongly , without melodrama, the voice of truth with a hunger that is very satisfying to hear, and most liable to prompt empathy.
Here are comments on just some of the valuable songs in this magical collection:
DREAM ON... A young man in trouble, sounds of the forlorn, haunted by memories, where the protagonist is "desperate to keep my sanity", this ode to lost love strikes a sympathetic chord to those who have been deserted. Aching guitar work supplements the sadness of this strikingly conceived song.
SEPTEMBER ELEVENTH is powerful. Opening with the terrible sounds of that awful day, the song bursts through the pain with fine lyrics of tribute to those "climbing with courage" seeking to save, tributes to those lost, tributes to those who remain to weep and wonder inconsolably. Never morose, this allegiance song is a treasure. "On September 11th a lot of Smokey's died". This incredible soundscape experiences the feeling we all had on that day. Dennis' vocal is very moving without trying to be. Truly a song for the ages. This song is a great example of what rock music is capable of.
TOUCH THE WIND has a sweet beginning but turns to a vocal resignation of accepting the permanent goodbye to a lover, "You said you'd never leave....what to believe" again-the lonely guitar, the mournful guitar; memories touching the wind. Karen's vocals are haunting. What a mood this songs creates.
MID-DECEMBER... Almost country, almost "British Invasion", if you will, Mid December launches immediately into the song-poet's lament on the beauty and sadness of love. The sadness is overcome with memories of the lover's loving past. A refreshing approach.
GET FREE..."This planet is headed for hell and I know we're gonna get there fast". An amazing treatise on how hard life can be and how the end of us all is near. Intense lyrics? You got 'em. A great rock song about the Apocalypse.
STRAY DOG may break your heart but you will also empathize with the singer-poet. The song begins as if we were in a church where a hymn is being played; the subject is indeed sacred. The music and lyrics continue as we share the love, the regret,. The singer mourns the dog "howling in the air / I hear him everywhere" and so will the listener. What a fine, fine song of reminder.
THIS TIME... Resignation to loss is a frequent theme in Full Resolution, though each approach is different. Here the guitar dominates over a nice rock groove. Classic sounding RnR.
TO HALF A HEART is a timely song that urges self identity, "You’ve got to be yourself". A gentle attack on posing, this song is like a mirror for us all. "and it's over, nothing left to hide now". Another great "classic rock" arrangement on this song.
WE ARE CFAR is one of the most powerful songs in the collection. A tribute to the big cats of the preserve in Florida. There's a great video of this song on YouTube, showing the incredible animals. A heartfelt plea for compassion, a demanding melody, unforgettable.
WATERHOLE QUARRY...Terrific vocal by Dana Miller, this "get free" song quest prompted in the title is a triumph over lost love."Free to cry out my pain" and on to a liberating stance. Refreshing!
TIN MAN BLUES...For a few years Dennis worked as a trucker, and a number of songs in the collection remember those years and those he met. This is perhaps the best of those songs, recalling Sandberg's tribute to the working man in the poem CHICAGO. Here we have the strong and beautiful bonds that tie this land together.
FIRE IN THE SUN... About the moments of fear that arise when contemplating the cosmos and life itself. "There's a fire in the sun, do you know who you are?" There's a scary "cosmic" video of this song on YouTube as well.
MONSTERS ON THE ROAD is a grand tribute to a familiar though sometimes overlooked piece of Americana. The throbbing bass gives emphasis to the importance of those marvelous tractors. As the vocal proclaims the tribute, the music swells and so does your heart; one of the most stirring tunes in the album.
UP DOWN belongs on the sound track of a movie about a mysterious child with a dark side. A mysterious, intriguing melody and mood.
FISHFRY sounds like a song from the Great Depression and Dust Bowl era of the 1930's. Wonderful accompaniment with a hint of New Orleans nobility leaves this sad but hopeful song resonating in your head long after the song is finished.
Memories that sting yet won't go away, solitude that forever haunts, consolation that refuses to be threatened, and compassion that overwhelms the listener's feelings for "little Fishfry" are the ties that bind this awesome song together. A song to praise the power of music.

FULL RESOLUTION is an awesome catalog of great music and lyrics.
